The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Muslim World League (MWL) welcomed on Friday the Armenian government decision to recognize Palestine as a state. In separate statements, both organizations considered the recognition as a positive step that would contribute to achieving what has been stipulated in the relevant Security Council resolutions and the Arab peace initiative as to empowering the Palestinian people to determine their destiny and establish the independent state with the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The OIC and MWL renewed calls on remaining states to take similar decisions and to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause. Up to 149 states out of 193 that are members of the UN General Assembly have recognized the State of Palestine. Source: Kuwait News Agency
