Standards and Metrology disposes of 172 counterfeit goods in H1

Amman: The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) issued 172 destruction orders of merchandise that infringed Jordanian technical regulations or carried counterfeit trademarks, referred 62 violators to the prosecutor general and warned 30 establishments during the first half of the year. Among the items disposed of were electrical appliances, toys, cleaning and cosmetics products, clothing, bags and construction materials, it said. JSMO Director Abeer Al-Zuhair said in a statement Saturday that its inspection teams checked on more than 3,800 establishments, including factories, showrooms and distributors across the governorates of the Kingdom, and conducted tests for more than 10,000 products to verify compliance with technical regulations and specifications. She said inspectors checked over 1,575 elevators in buildings and facilities to ensure they meet safety requirements and protection of users. Al-Zuhair said her organization received 503 complaints in the first half of the year and took l egal action against violators and fake products, urging the public to report any such breaches.
