Amman: Ministry of Water and Irrigation's Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), in cooperation with concerned authorities, carried out a campaign to backfill 20 illegal wells and remove attacks on water sources in Kafrein Dam/Southern Shuna area. According to a ministry statement, 20 illegal wells dug on state-owned lands were seized and backfilled, which were used to siphon off tens of thousands of cubic meters of water daily to irrigate farms illegally. The statement added that the WAJ's technical teams completely backfilled the violating wells, removed the conveyor infrastructure that extends over many distances and locations, and disconnected the water pipelines. The campaign's seizures will be prepared and the documents will be referred to the specialized authorities to complete the legal procedures, the statement pointed out. Source: Jordan News Agency
