Doha: Al Noor Center for the Blind, a center under the Qatar Foundation for Social Work and affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family, organized awareness events today to mark World Sight Day and White Cane Day. The activities aim to raise public awareness about the importance of supporting individuals with visual impairments and highlight the latest tools and technologies used to assess and treat vision issues. The events included the opening of a special booth at Vendome Mall, featuring various activities and introducing the public to the centers services, enhancing understanding of the centers role in improving the quality of life for people with visual impairments. The activities also emphasize the importance of regular eye exams and eye health, while showcasing the latest developments related to visual impairments. Additionally, they will highlight the untapped potential of visually impaired individuals and provide detailed demonstrations on the optimal use of the white cane, as we ll as how the visually impaired use their five senses to interact with the world around them. Mishal Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of Al Noor Center for the Blind, stated that community awareness is key to supporting people with visual impairments and enhancing their independence. He added that the activities at the Vendome Mall booth reflect their commitment to offering innovative solutions and creating an interactive learning environment to help visually impaired individuals realize their full potential. Al Nuaimi also noted that these activities will contribute to increasing community understanding of the white cane as an essential tool for integration and self-mobility, while also emphasizing the importance of regular eye exams to maintain eye health. The events at the "Vendome Mall" booth will continue for three days, featuring interactive workshops aimed at raising awareness about the role of the white cane in the lives of visually impaired individuals.
