The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Kuwait Association for Needy Families (KANF) signed, Sunday, a letter of intent, empowering families in need. In a press statement, UNHCR Representative in Kuwait Nisreen Rubaian said that letter of intent coincides with World Refugee Day on June 20 under the slogan "A worldwide Refugee welcome," representing the UNHCR's milestone in their efforts of improving lives. The joint effort between UNHCR and KANF, added Rubaian, is the first of its kind that focuses on enabling people under the UNHCR's care in Kuwait, providing pre-paid cards to widen their choices and receive aid. In a similar statement, KANF's Chairman of the Board of Directors Bader Al-Mubarak said this agreement seeks to support and enable individuals in need through offering training spaces for youths that do not contradict Kuwaiti law. Al-Mubarak pointed out that Kuwait and the UN's relationship had lasted for decades, embodying the emboldened bilateral relations they share, including bestowing Kuwait and its late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah with titles regarding humanitarianism. The UNHCR's office in Kuwait is interested in creating and nurturing community partnerships with Kuwaiti charities. Source: Kuwait News Agency
