The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the al-Abbas Shrine announced the date of holding the annual conference for the martyrs of the Speicher massacre, within the activities of the eighth Holy Defense Fatwa Cultural Festival. The conference, which is being held by the Iraqi Center for Documentation of Extremist Crimes, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Speicher massacre, will be held next Friday, June 7th, at three-thirty in the afternoon, in the Imam Hassan Hall (peace be upon him) at the al-Abbas's holy shrine. The director of the center, Abbas Al-Quraishi, said: 'The conference activities include a special research session that addresses the effects of the massacre on Iraqi society, and the efforts made to document this crime in cooperation with international and regional institutions.' He added: "The conference will honor a group of martyrs' families," stressing the importance of commemorating the painful memory and working to ensure that such genocides are not repeated in t he future.
