The Civil Defense Directorate in Diyala Governorate announced the rescue of 16 "premature" babies after extinguishing a fire inside a maternity ward at Baladruz General Hospital. The Directorate stated in a statement that "16 babies were rescued from the incubators of premature babies and the fire that broke out inside the maternity ward at Baladruz General Hospital in Diyala Governorate was extinguished without recording any human losses." It added that an investigation was opened at the police station responsible for the geographical area and a forensic expert was summoned to determine the causes of the initial outbreak of the fire inside the hospital. The Diyala Health Department had announced earlier today that it had controlled a fire in a maternity ward at Baladruz General Hospital in the governorate. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
