The Quarterly Import Unit Value Index (IMVUI) for the second quarter of 2024 reached 108.93 points showing an increase of 0.85% when compared to first quarter-2024. Compared to counterpart in 2023 (Q2-2023), Y-o-Y basis, a decrease of 0.09% has been recorded in the general index (IMUVI) of this quarter. Released by the National Planning Council, IMUVI contains ten main groups classified based on Standard International Trade Classification. An analysis on Q-o-Q basis of IMUVI of Q2- 2024 compared with IMUVI, Q1-2024, showed that there were six main groups, where respective indices in this month have increased, namely: "Commodities and transactions not classified elsewhere in SITC" by 12.13%, followed by "Crude materials, inedible, except fuels" by 8.14%, "Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes" by 4.26%, "Miscellaneous manufactured articles" by 3.85%, "Food and live animals" by 2.34%, and "Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material" by 2.12%. A decrease has been recorded in "Machinery and transpor t equipment" by 2.03%, followed by "Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials by 1.42%, "Beverages and Tobacco" by 0.75%, and "Chemicals and related products" by 0.74%. A comparison of IMUVI Q2-2024 with the IMVUI Q2-2023 (Annual Change), a decrease has been recorded in the general index (IMUVI), by 0.09%. This Y-o-Y value decreases primarily due to the unit value decline in five groups namely: "Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes" by 7.21%, followed by "Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials" by 5.10%, "Food and live animals" by 1.79%, "Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material" by 1.65%, and "Miscellaneous manufactured articles" by 1.14%. An increase has been shown in "Commodities and transactions not classified elsewhere in SITC" by 13.28%. "Beverages and Tobacco" by 2.09%, "Crude materials, inedible, except fuels" by 1.53%, "Chemicals and related products" by 0.88%, and "Machinery and transport equipment" by 0.62%.
