An official delegation from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has participated in the 11th Red Cross and Red Crescent Conference for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), held by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which is hosted by Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS) over two days in Amman, Jordan, and is part of the preparations for the 2024 Constitutional Meetings in October. The conference addressed various key agenda items, including the humanitarian situation in Palestine, impact of complex crises on humanitarian needs, transformative role of the Movement regarding humanitarian issues, stronger youth and volunteer empowerment, alignment of National Societies' resources with ongoing developments, keeping pace with global humanitarian transformations through transformative partnerships, and regional strategic plan 2024-2028. On day 2, HE Secretary-General of QRCS Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi chaired a general session on "National Societies Preparedness fo r the Future". The participants discussed ways to enhance collaborative efforts, develop integrated response strategies that address the complex and interconnected nature of current humanitarian challenges, and build frameworks that enable more coordinated and effective crisis responses. The conference concluded with the issuance of the "Amman Declaration 2024: A unified call for future-prepared MENA humanitarian action", which included a number of commitments and recommendations for MENA National Societies. On the sidelines of the conference, HE Al Emadi received a special honoring from HE President of IFRC Kate Forbes, in recognition of QRCS's active contributions to humanitarian response globally. Prior to the conference, Head of Community Development at QRCS Tahani Saleh Al Feaidi participated in the online meeting of youths and volunteers from 11 MENA National Societies, who shared insights as leaders and partners in shaping the future of the regions humanitarian action. QRCS, represented by its Secr etary-Gerneral, participated in the emergency plenary session of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO), during which Dr. Abdullah bin Suhail Al Muhaidli was elected as Secretary-General of ARCO, succeeding Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al Tuwaijri.
