Palestinian Women Face Heightened Risks Amid Escalating Conflict, Says Minister of Women’s Affairs.

Ramallah: The Minister of Women's Affairs, Mona al-Khalili, has highlighted the urgent need for increased protection for Palestinian women amidst the intensifying aggression by Israeli forces and the ongoing genocide. Her assertion underscores the critical situation faced by women in conflict-affected areas. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Khalili made these remarks during a meeting with Luise Amtsberg, the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy of Germany, held at the ministry's office in Ramallah. Khalili emphasized the crucial role of international organizations operating in Palestine in prioritizing the needs of women and girls during this crisis. She pointed out that women are at the forefront of relief efforts, striving to safeguard their families and communities, whether they are in displacement areas within Gaza or in various Palestinian cities and refugee camps. Furthermore, Khalili stressed that ensuring the right of women to life and protection should b e an unassailable priority, urging all relevant parties to fulfill their responsibilities. She called for immediate action to address these pressing issues. Luise Amtsberg, representing Germany, reaffirmed her country's support for the two-state solution and highlighted the necessity of providing humanitarian aid to those affected in Gaza and the West Bank. She recognized the severe challenges posed by Israel's ongoing expansion, which impacts the political process and violates international law. Amtsberg expressed her understanding of the urgent needs of women in Gaza and acknowledged the harsh conditions they face on multiple levels. She emphasized that protecting women and delivering humanitarian aid are immediate priorities, as stipulated by international humanitarian law.
