Ramallah: The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) reported that Israeli occupation authorities have detained over 435 Palestinian women since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza. This includes detentions in the West Bank, occupied Jerusalem, and the territories of 1948. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, there is no clear estimate of the number of women detained from Gaza, as some were later released. However, it is confirmed that some women remain detained in occupation camps and are subject to enforced disappearance. Among the detainees, 94 are still held, including four from Gaza. These include 31 administrative detainees, 33 mothers, 25 university students, six journalists, and two lawyers. The report released by PPS on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women highlights that Palestinian women are enduring a particularly violent phase in the conflict with the occupation. They face what is described as a war of genocide and a series of unprecedented crimes and serious violations, including the escalation of detentions, attacks, and sexual assaults.
