The House of Artisans, located in the United Arab Emirates' capital of Abu Dhabi, is place where crafts of the old come to life. These crafts draw from the local environment and natural resources to meet functional and economic needs. The local crafts represented include Al-Khoos, a weaving technique practiced by both men and women using palm tree leaves to make a variety of functional products. Another craft widely known by Emirati women is a type of embroidery known as Talli. The decorative skills interweave silk or cotton threads with gold and silver to adorn traditional clothes.
