More than 5,000 bachelor’s, diploma holders take professional practice exam in Sana’a


Over 5,000 medical and health professionals took part in the fourth proficiency exam of 2024, organized by the Medical Council at September 21 University for Medical and Applied Sciences.

Chairman of the Medical Council Dr. Mujahid Mesar revealed that 1,973 bachelor’s degree holders participated in the exams. These included:

337 in general medicine, 592 in pharmacy, 207 in nursing. 358 in dentistry, 222 in laboratories , 39 in clinical pharmacy, 52 in nutrition, 25 in midwifery, 28 in anesthesia technicians, 33 in radiology technicians, 28 in physiotherapy, 20 in respiratory care, 12 in community health

In addition, 3,033 diploma holders were tested in various specializations such as: 692 in midwifery, 498 in pharmacy, 811 medical assistants, 258 in laboratories, 375 in nursing, 68 dental assistants, 56 anesthesia technicians, 153 operating technicians, 42 emergency technicians, 12 in respiratory care, 31 radiology technicians, 7 dental technicians

Dr. Mesar emphasized that obtaining licenses to practice
the medical profession is a crucial step to ensure quality and competence among medical practitioners, following stringent review and examination processes.

The Medical Council oversees the licensing, exam preparation, and verification of documents for all graduates from both public and private institutions, underscoring the importance of professional proficiency in the healthcare field.
