Doha: HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah met with HE Secretary of Sichuan Province at the People's Republic of China Wang Xiaohui and his accompanying delegation, on the margins of his visit to the country. The visit of the Chinese delegation aims at promoting tourism in China's Sichuan Province which is the only home to pandas in China, as well as highlighting the State of Qatar's role in preserving pandas and its efforts in establishing the largest reserve in the world to host the two pandas, the Ministry of Municipality said in a statement Monday. The meeting discussed boosting cooperation and exchange of expertise between the Ministry of Municipality and Sichuan Province in areas of joint interest. The visiting delegation expressed appreciation for Qatar's efforts in establishing the Panda House Park in accordance with the highest international specifications and standards. The State of Qatar is the first in the Middle East and the 20th in the world to host the giant panda, after China gifted two giant pandas to the State of Qatar in October 2022 within the framework of strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
