Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib warned in a phone call with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell against the risk of escalation and dragging the region to the brink of disaster. During the phone call, the two sides discussed the latest developments regarding Tuesday's cyber attack on Lebanon, which resulted in casualties and injuries. According to a statement issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Borrell promised to call for European consultations to discuss possible steps that contribute to curbing escalation and the risk of a wider war. Lebanese Public Health Minister Firas Abiad announced on Tuesday that eight people were killed and more than 2,800 others were injured, according to a preliminary count, due to the explosion of several pager devices across Lebanon. The Lebanese government held Israel responsible for these explosions, describing them as an Israeli cyber attack. Source: Qatar News Agency
