Beirut: An Israeli drone carried out an airstrike on Monday evening on the town of Mfarman in Nabatieh district, south Lebanon, killing a Syrian national and wounding three others, two Lebanese and a Syrian. A Lebanese security source told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the airstrike targeted a motorcycle in the town. Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati reiterated that a solution to the conflict in southern Lebanon "must be based on the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701." "Mikati conducted intensive diplomatic contacts after the recent Israeli threats to Lebanon and received a call from Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, who expressed his country's solidarity with Lebanon," according to a statement issued by the Lebanese Prime Ministry. "Mikati also received a call from British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who renewed his call for all parties to exercise restraint to prevent escalation," the statement said, adding that he called for "resolving disputes peacefully and thro ugh the implementation of relevant international resolutions." The Lebanese Prime Ministry's Media Office denied reports that the Prime Minister was informed of the date of an Israeli airstrike on Lebanon, saying that these reports "fall within the framework of rumors and fabricated news."
