Baghdad, The Republic of Iraq, represented by the Federal Integrity Commission, participated in the fifth session of the Conference of States Parties to the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention, held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo. The Head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, headed the Iraqi delegation. During his speech at the conference, he presented 'a project to establish a council of heads of law enforcement agencies concerned with integrity and anti-corruption in the states parties to the Arab Convention against Corruption, in order to enhance cooperation and coordination among law enforcement agencies in the countries, parties to the Convention in areas related to integrity, combating and preventing corruption, providing mutual legal assistance, and exchanging information in the field of asset recovery and extradition of wanted persons.' According to the Commission's statement, Hanoun reviewed 'the efforts of the Republic of Iraq in preventing and combating corrupti on and developing strategies for integrity and combating corruption,' praising the efforts of the Iraqi government in supporting anti-corruption efforts by making combating corruption a priority in its ministerial curriculum and government program, and adopting the principle of evaluation for its Ministers, Undersecretaries, Advisors, and Directors General, considering the fight against corruption as its most important pillar.
