TUNIS: The General Assembly of the Arab States Broadcasting Union elected the State of Palestine as Vice-President of the Union, represented by Minister Ahmed Assaf, General Supervisor of Official Palestinian Media. This came during the Union's General Assembly at its forty-third session in Tunisia. Minister Assaf thanked the Arab countries for electing the State of Palestine to be part of the presidency of the Union, considering this a tribute to Palestine, its people, and the martyrs of the Palestinian media, who numbered 113 since the start of the recent Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in all the Palestinian territories. Assaf pointed out that 10 percent of Palestinian journalists in Gaza were killed by occupation bullets with the aim of obscuring facts and the genocidal crimes it is committing against the Palestinian people, stressing that the Israeli crimes during 100 days were unprecedented in terms of the number of people killed and wounded, the destruction of residential units, an d forced displacement. He Praised the unprecedented Palestinian journalists' performance, stating that their performance lived up to the scale of this challenge, stressing that journalists were able to expose the crimes of the occupation and sacrificed their lives to deliver their message and the message of their people. Assaf also affirmed that 10 journalists from the official Palestinian media were killed during the ongoing Israeli aggression, adding that Palestinian journalists have succeeded in conveying their message to the world. Assaf renewed gratitude to the Union for the important role it played in support of the Palestinian media since the beginning of this aggression, by dedicating a channel to transmit its broadcasts from Palestine TV to all member states and partners, numbering more than 500 satellite stations.
