Istanbul: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call last night with the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh. Sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated in press statements that the two sides discussed during the phone call the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the worrying developments resulting from the increase in hunger and diseases in the northern part of the Strip. The call also touched on the latest developments in the ceasefire talks in Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been waging a war on Gaza that has resulted in more than 127,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of whom are children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and deadly famine. Tel Aviv continues this war, ignoring the two UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice orders to end the invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, and to take measures to prevent acts of genocide, and to improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.
