Head of the State of Law Coalition Nouri al-Maliki confirmed that differences within the components postponed the election of the Speaker of Parliament. Al-Maliki said in a televised statement that the Coordination Framework chose to be a factor for consensus without breaking any bloc or political party, and we spoke with all Sunni parties and brought viewpoints closer in order to reach a solution. He explained that the solution to the Speaker of Parliament file was represented by one of the Sunni parties giving up a Ministry in exchange for winning the position of Speaker of Parliament. He added that we do not want the House of Representatives to be paralyzed and we refused to proceed with a session without agreeing on one of the candidates for Speaker of Parliament. He indicated that all parties have consensus on nominating Al-Mashhadani for Speaker of Parliament except for one party. He indicated that Al-Issawi's failure to withdraw from the nomination postponed the election of the Speaker of Parliame nt. He continued: I told all Sunni parties that I and those with me will vote for Al-Mashhadani as Speaker of Parliament. He confirmed that Mohammed Al-Halbousi has no alliance with me or the framework and nominated Al-Mashhadani because he is the closest to him. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
