Bethlehem - Ma'an - Bashar Yassin, Director General of the Association of Banks in Palestine, said that there are a group of pages on social media sites claiming to represent banks and the Palestinian banking sector, asking citizens to provide them with their bank account numbers and secret numbers for these cards under the umbrella of providing assistance and entering competitions and drawing prizes. Yassin explained, in his interview with Ma'an TV, that these pages are widely spread and that some citizens have responded to such pages, stressing that if the card numbers are given, the person requesting the number will be able to enter accounts, which will lead to hacking and stealing money from the account of the responding person. Yassin noted that some citizens have been defrauded and that all banks are following up on this with the relevant authorities, including cybercrime, to try to control and close these pages. Yassin confirmed the emergence of a page on social media bearing the name of the Palesti nian Banks Association, which uses the logo and slogan of the Banks Association and publishes the activities carried out by the banks, claiming that it represents all Palestinian banks.
