Baghdad, The Asayish Service of the Kurdistan Region announced the arrest of a number of smugglers involved in the sinking of a yacht off the coast of Italy. The Service said in a statement: "The Asayish Service of the region was able to arrest a number of smugglers involved in the case of sending citizens of the Kurdistan Region to the Italian coast, which resulted in the sinking of a yacht and the death of more than 64 citizens." He added: "After investigating and collecting information related to the incident, and by order of the Asayish judge, a number of major smugglers were arrested, namely: (H, H, A), (B, Q, M), (M, Y, A), (D, A, Q)". The Asayish of the region confirmed that "its efforts and investigations are ongoing, and that it will not hesitate to arrest any person involved in smuggling operations, whether inside or outside the region, and bring them to justice." This procedure comes in accordance with Article No. 28 of 2012, as investigations continue to uncover all those involved and ensure th ey are brought to a fair trial, according to a statement by the Asayish of the region.
