Doha: In cooperation with the statistical center for the Gulf Cooperation Council states (GCC-Stat), the National Planning Council organized on Sunday a national workshop on land use and land cover statistics. The council's statement said that this workshop aims to present and explain the GCC-Stat's form on land use and land cover statistics, and present the optimal method for filling it out. It also aims to provide presentations on the State of Qatar's experience in monitoring land use and land cover statistics, as well as present the experiences of the Gulf and Arab countries in providing statistics in this regard, and discuss the challenges and solutions in monitoring these topics. In the five-day workshop, experts and specialists form the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Municipality and the National Planning Council are participating in the workshop. The workshop focuses on land use in terms of agriculture, forestry, coastal waters, and the exclusive economic zone, and on l and cover in terms of areas affected by soil erosion, salinization, desertification, and soil quality.
