Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit Friday commended the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning the legal consequences arising from the policies and practices of the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territory. In a press statement, he said the ICJ's verdict marks a significant legal move towards the legitimate Palestinian status amid the Israeli occupation's continued bids to tighten its grip on the occupied Palestinian territory. He underlined that the fresh verdict is a piece of obvious evidence that the Israeli occupation's excuses for its racial practices in the occupied Palestinian territory are "nonsense". The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled earlier Friday that the Israeli occupation's continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory is "unlawful" and that it should come to an end "as rapidly as possible". This came in an advisory opinion issued by the ICJ with respect to the legal consequences arising from the polic ies and practices of the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
