She noted that IREX encourages young leaders from local communities, especially in the periphery, to apply for the program. Marina Sahawneh, one of the participants, said that the program is an "ideal model for making positive change in people's li ves." She said that the program provided her with the tools she needs to raise awareness about preventing technology-facilitated gender-based violence. Another participant, Yazan Abu Al Haijah, praised the experiences he gained through the program, which he said gave him the opportunity to learn about American culture and values. He also said that the program provides a supportive environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds can express themselves authentically. U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Counselor Stefanie Altman-Winans commended the participants for their commitment to community service. She said that the program helps to meet the needs of young Jordanian professionals.
