U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a new $250 million military aid package for Ukraine, as Kyiv continues to resist advancing Russian forces in the eastern part of the country. Speaking at a meeting of international supporters for Ukraine in Germany, Austin confirmed that President Joe Biden would sign off on the new security assistance, which is intended to boost Ukraine's military capabilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during the same meeting, called on Western allies to provide more weapons to help repel Russian forces, particularly in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine. He also requested permission to use long-range missiles not only on occupied Ukrainian territory but also on Russian soil. It is worth noting that the United States remains Ukraine's primary military supporter, having pledged over $55 billion in weapons, ammunition, and other security assistance since the Russian military operation began in February 2022.
