The University of Baghdad discussed with the German Archaeological Institute the executive procedures for opening the Iraqi-German Center. The university presidency stated in a statement: "In an important step to enhance scientific and cultural cooperation, the Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad, Dr. Ali Abdul Amir Sajit, discussed with the Head of the Department of the East at the German Archaeological Institute, Professor Magritte van Es, the mechanism for activating a joint scientific memorandum of understanding between the two sides, and the executive procedures for opening the Iraqi-German Center in the College of Arts." It added: "This came during the visit of the Dean of the College to Berlin, accompanied by the lecturer at the college, Dr. Laith Majeed Hussein, where the two sides discussed the mechanism for activating the memorandum of understanding, the provisions of which include research cooperation, exchange of scientific expertise and competencies, and the development of innovative projects in the scientific field, in addition to the partnership of teaching staff and specialized laboratories." The delegation also discussed the preparatory procedures for the Iraqi-German Center, which it intends to open in the College of Arts, as the center represents a prominent model of bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Germany, and seeks to strengthen cultural, scientific and academic relations between the two countries.
