The US Central Command "CENTCOM" announced: "Four ISIS leaders were killed in a joint US-Iraqi military operation in western Iraq last month, including the head of the organization's operations in the country." "CENTCOM" said in a statement published on the X platform: "The operation that took place on August 29 targeted ISIS leaders and aimed to disrupt and reduce the organization's ability to plan, coordinate and carry out attacks against Iraqi civilians." The operation resulted in the killing of 14 ISIS elements, a number lower than that previously announced, which amounted to 15 dead before a review by US forces, and five American soldiers were wounded, in addition to two others injured as a result of their stumbling and falling. The CENTCOM statement identified the four leaders killed as Ahmed al-Ithawi, the leader of ISIS operations in Iraq; Abu Humam, who oversaw operations in western Iraq; Abu Ali al-Tunisi, who managed weapons development and manufacturing; and Shaker al-Issawi, who led the organi zation's military operations in western Iraq.
