GENEVA: The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Alice Gil Edwards, has condemned the sexual assault of a Palestinian prisoner by Israeli occupation soldiers in Israel's Sde Teiman. "There are no circumstances, however exceptional, can ever justify sexual torture or inhuman and degrading sexual treatment,' Edwards said in a statement today, stressing that all alleged crimes committed in the context of this terrible war must be investigated transparently and impartially, and those responsible must be held accountable. She said that this alleged sexual torture involving many perpetrators is particularly appalling, stressing continued efforts to press for accountability for all allegations of torture and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment during the war on Gaza.
