UN Rapporteur Accuses Israel of Genocide in Gaza Strip.

Madrid: The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, has publicly stated that Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. Her assertion is based on comprehensive investigations conducted over the past year. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Albanese made these remarks during a session in the Spanish Parliament. The session, titled "The role of the military embargo in peacebuilding processes," was organized by the Rescop organization as part of a campaign to halt arms sales to Israel. The campaign aims to prevent the alleged genocide against the Palestinian people. Albanese stated that she spent the last year "documenting the genocide committed by Israel in Palestine." She emphasized that the evidence shows Israel is conducting genocide in Gaza, underscored by widespread destruction. Her investigations involved collaboration with 30 United Nations experts and took into account a decision by the International Court of Justice issue d last July, which she claims confirms the genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories. The rapporteur highlighted the "irreparable damage" inflicted on the lives of Palestinians in Gaza due to these actions. She insisted that all member states are obliged to comply with International Court of Justice decisions and declared that trading arms with a state accused of genocide breaches the UN Charter. Albanese further argued that an arms embargo alone is insufficient. She urged for the severance of all military, academic, and diplomatic ties with Israel as the next step. Concluding her address, she maintained that Israel is responsible for "war crimes and crimes against humanity," especially in the occupied Palestinian territories.
