UK Defense Secretary John Healey reaffirmed on Tuesday the UK's commitment to the tripartite security agreement (AUKUS) with Australia and the United States that contributes to enhancing global security, the growth of the British economy, and the creation of new jobs. Joined by the Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defencs Minister, Richard Marles, on a tour to Sheffield Forgemasters which is one of key military steel suppliers in Sheffield, the pair saw first-hand how the business is benefiting from AUKUS - the trilateral defence and security partnership between the UK, US and Australia. This came in a statement issued by the British Defense Secretary following a meeting held with Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marley and their visit to the Sheffield Forgemasters site, one of the largest British Ministry of Defense companies that finance steel used for military purposes. Healy added that Sheffield Forgemasters is one example that shows the great importance of the partnership with Australia and the United States in providing jobs for British citizens who possess the required skills and achieving prosperity in the United Kingdom. The submarine program under the AUKUS Agreement is scheduled to add 7,000 new jobs for British citizens, in addition to employing 21,000 people in the UK supply chains for other programs related to the agreement. For his part, Marley praised the relations, which he described as historic, between Australia and the United Kingdom, whether within the framework of cooperation agreements in the fields of defense and security or the ongoing achievements within the framework of the AUKUS agreement.
