Tzachi Hanegbi: The fighting in Gaza will continue for another 7 months

Bethlehem - Ma'an - Israeli National Security Advisor, Tzachi Hanegbi, said that "the fighting in Gaza will continue for at least another 7 months." In an interview with Channel 2, Hanegbi also stated that the Israeli army now controls 75% of the Philadelphia Corridor, which runs along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. And that Israel will control the axis to prevent smuggling. The Philadelphia axis is considered a 'buffer zone' and is subject to the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel. However, two weeks after the Israeli military operation in the city of Rafah on the Egyptian border, the Israeli army took control of part of the axis, raising questions about the reasons and repercussions of that step. The 'Salah al-Din' axis, or Philadelphia, is considered a 'buffer zone' by the peace treaty signed in 1979, and Israel withdrew from it completely as part of the plan to disengage from the Gaza Strip in 2005. The "Philadelphia Axis" extends within the Gaza Strip from the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south along the Egyptian border, which is about 14 kilometers.
