Israeli Forces Tighten Movement Restrictions at Beit Furik Checkpoint Near Nablus

Nablus: Israeli occupation forces Tuesday evening tightened the movement restrictions at the Beit Furik military checkpoint near the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local sources.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the occupying forces increased restrictions at the Beit Furik checkpoint, located at the eastern entrance of Nablus. The measures involved forcing passengers out of vehicles with their hands up, assaulting them, holding them for extended periods, and causing significant traffic congestion.

The occupation forces have tightened movement restrictions at the checkpoints and have been setting up additional barriers around the Nablus governorate for over 10 days. These measures were intensified across the occupied West Bank shortly after the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners, coinciding with the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire. The strategies include dismembering and isolating cities and governorates using military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.

These military measures run parallel to ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists across the West Bank, which aim to terrorize Palestinians and displace them from their lands, facilitating the construction of illegal Jewish colonies that separate Palestinian communities. Israel imposes severe movement restrictions on Palestinians within the occupied West Bank through approximately 898 fixed and flying checkpoints and gates. This includes 18 gates installed since the start of 2025 and 146 others set up after October 7, 2023, in addition to settler-only roads, over 200 military bases, and various other physical obstructions.
