Two minors among 12 detained from West Bank
Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained 12 Palestinians, including two minors, from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.
They said that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinians from al-Tira neighborhood of the central West Bank city of Ramallah.
The forces also rounded up two others in separate two raids in Silwad and Kafr Ni’ma village, northeast and west of the city.
Also in Ramallah city, special Israeli forces sneaked their way to Qaddura refugee camp, and abducted a former prisoner from a house in the vicinity of Palestine Medical Complex.
In Nablus, the military vehicles stormed the neighborhood of al-‘Ameriya, where the soldiers detained another.
They conducted a raid in Burqa village, north of the northern West Bank city, resulting in the detention of another.
Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, special forces used a vehicle with a Palestinian registration plate to sneak their way into Kafr Qud, west of Jenin, and abducted a former prisoner after surrounding his house.
In Jerusalem, heavily-armed police detained a teen from Ras al-Amud neighborhood near Silwan.
The sources confirmed a raid in Anata town, northeast of the city, resulting in the detention of another.
In the southern West Bank, gun-toting soldiers barged their way into al-Khader town, south of the city, and rounded up two minors, both aged 15, after forcibly entering their parents’ house.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
