The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed today, Sunday, that Iraq is looking forward to distinguished relations with neighboring Turkey at various levels. A presidential statement stated that the President of the Republic received, today, Sunday, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the Turkish Ambassador, Ali Reza Guney. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on developing bilateral relations and enhancing aspects of cooperation and coordination between the two countries in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly peoples. According to the statement, the President of the Republic stressed the importance of strengthening relations and cooperation between Baghdad and Ankara, and enhancing joint action at the international and regional levels to consolidate security, stability and peace in the region. Rashid pointed out that Iraq is looking forward to distinguished relations with neighboring Turkey at various levels, and is also keen to establish relations with brother ly and friendly countries based on respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. For his part, Ali Reza Guney expressed his country's endeavor to consolidate cooperation and mutual coordination to reach common understandings on issues between the two countries and regional issues, reviewing the ongoing arrangements for the Turkish President's visit to Iraq.
