Baghdad The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received a phone call, today, Saturday, from King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha. A statement from his office stated: 'During the call, Rashid and King Abdullah II exchanged congratulations and blessings, and prayed to God Almighty that this occasion would bring goodness, security and peace to all the peoples of the region.' It added, "The relations between the two countries were also discussed, and the keenness to strengthen and develop them in various fields was emphasized, in a way that achieves the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for development and well-being, and consolidates security, stability and peace in the region." Rashid and King Abdullah II touched on the situation in Palestine, stressing 'the necessity of stopping the bombing and violations committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and the importance of supporting the Palestinians to obtain th eir legitimate rights and establish their independent state on the Palestinian national territory.'
