Cairo: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa called for the urgent provision of financial support to the State of Palestine in accordance with Arab League resolutions, and for activating the financial safety net endorsed at the Baghdad Summit last May. This support is essential to enable the Palestinian government to fulfill its obligations, particularly in light of the ongoing comprehensive aggression by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and the continued withholding of Palestinian clearance funds. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Mustafa conveyed this message in a written letter to the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, delivered by Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, Palestine's Permanent Representative to the Arab League. In his letter, Mustafa underscored the crucial role of international and Arab support in pressuring the Israeli government to release the withheld clearance revenues, which total approximately $2.2 billion. He reminded Arab state s of the comprehensive Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and highlighted the growing needs and responsibilities of the Palestinian government, including paying salaries and allowances to over 170,000 beneficiaries, fulfilling ongoing commitments to the people of Gaza, supporting more than 150,000 families receiving social assistance, and meeting other obligations to provide essential services to the Palestinian population. Ambassador Al-Aklouk updated the Secretary-General on recent developments concerning the Palestinian cause, highlighting the ongoing aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing committed by Israel against the Palestinian people. He also detailed the illegal practices, particularly the withholding of clearance funds, which have placed the Palestinian government under severe strain, preventing it from fulfilling its obligations to provide essential services in key sectors such as health, education, social protection, and security. The Secretary-General affirmed his commitment to do everything possible to support the Palestinian cause and halt Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people. He also expressed his readiness to coordinate with Arab and European countries, as well as the United States, to exert pressure on Israel to release the withheld Palestinian funds.
