Jerusalem - Ma'an - Settlers seized the house of Jawad Abu Nab, in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, on Tuesday afternoon, under the pretext that "the land belongs to the settlers." Zuhair Al-Rajabi, head of the Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood committee in Silwan, explained that the residents were surprised by settlers' actions inside Jawad Abu Nab's house, days after the Central Court's decision to reject the Abu Nab family's appeal of their home. Al-Rajbi added that Abu Nab's house has been empty of people since 2015, as it is located in the middle of a settlement outpost that was leaked at the time, and since then Abu Nab has been prevented from reaching his house, and the case is in the courts. Al-Rajbi added that the Central Court last week rejected the appeal filed by Abu Nab and three other families against the decisions to evict them from their homes in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood, on the pretext that the land has been a waqf for Yemeni Jews since 1881. Al-Ra jbi pointed out that the settlers did not wait for the deadline from the Central Court for the family, which would enable them to appeal to the Supreme Court. The Ateret Cohanim Association claims that 5 dunams and 200 square meters of land in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood have belonged to Jews from Yemen since 1881, and since 2015 the association has begun delivering notices and judicial notices to families in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood to evict them from their homes.
