Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Tuesday the US Chargé d'Affaires in Moscow over the participation of US private military companies alongside Kiev in attacks in the Kursk region. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement it also lodged a formal protest note to Stephanie Holmes over US reporters' illegal entry into the region. The statement added that the US elements would be a target for the Russian forces. The war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2022, took a new escalating course on Aug. 6, after Ukrainian forces announced their incursion into Russian territory, advancing several kilometers in the Kursk border region.
