Russia Finalizes Testing for Small-Sized Personal Portable Satellite Communication Station

Russian civilian low Earth orbit communications satellite system 'Gonets' announced, Tuesday, the completion of testing for the small-sized personal portable satellite communication station of the Gonets autonomy model. The company confirmed the station's capability to transmit various types of information, adding that it is preparing for batch industrial production of portable stations that can be placed in hand-held bags. The continuous operating time of the station reached 4 hours when powered by battery electricity, the company said. Noteworthy, Gonets allows for the guaranteed transmission of audio and text news, as well as small files from any location on the map. It is also capable of distributing Wi-Fi signals to mobile communication devices and automatically sending its coordinates. The station weighs only 3 kilograms. The 'Gonets' station is a Russian system for low Earth orbit satellites designed for mobile satellite communication.
