Ramallah - Ma'an - The Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Authority reported that the prisoner leader of the Popular Front, Hussam Al-Razza (67 years old), from the city of Nablus, has been subjected to abuse and torture with the aim of killing more than 4 times, since the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip last October. The Commission's lawyer confirmed, after her visit to Gilboa prison a few days ago, that Al-Razza came to the visit while leaning on his crutch and walking with great weight, as he suffers from great pain that prevents him from walking alone as a result of what he was exposed to at the hands of the prison security official and a group of masked soldiers, who assaulted him severely. They brutally threatened to kill him, without taking into account his age and health condition, as he suffers from discs and joint pain. In this context, the prisoner says: 'Without any preliminaries and without justification, a prison guard cursed and insulted my sister, and I returned the insult. Suddenly, the officer in charge came, accompanied by five masked soldiers, and they dragged me out of the room, then they severely beat me for more than a quarter of an hour. They brutally assaulted me.' With their rugs, hands, and sticks, they broke me and threw me to the ground. I could not stand because of the pain, and to this day I suffer from difficulty walking. The back brace was also taken from me afterward as punishment, and they kept me without treatment.' The prisoner continues to recount the details of what he was subjected to: 'On April 5, 2024, the same officer, accompanied by a large number of soldiers, entered the room. They attacked me suddenly and beat me three times on the same day, in varying stages, in the presence of all the prisoners. They continued the series of torture on 04/30/2024, when they stormed my room again and abused me, according to the testimony of all the prisoners in the room.' Note that Al-Razza is a former prisoner. He spent more than 18 years in the occupation prisons, during which he went on many open hunger strikes. He was also subjected to isolation more than once, and many punishments were imposed on him. The occupation re-arrested him in October 2023, and an administrative prison sentence was recently issued against him. He is married and has many children and grandchildren. Source: Maan News Agency
