Ramallah: Presidential spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, strongly condemned recent Israeli media reports about plans to create a "buffer zone" in northern Gaza and Jabalia. This zone would facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid through U.S.-based private security contractors with foreign funding. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, such proposals are completely unacceptable and violate international law and all United Nations resolutions, which recognize Gaza as an integral part of the occupied Palestinian Territory. He stressed that any plans concerning Gaza's future or the distribution of aid must be managed solely by the Palestinian Authority, in coordination with UNRWA and other relevant international organizations. Abu Rudeineh further emphasized that President Mahmoud Abbas has repeatedly called for the immediate implementation of UN resolution 2735, which demands a ceasefire in Gaza, the urgent delivery of aid to the entire Strip, the full Israeli forces' withdrawal f rom Gaza and Palestine's full assumption of responsibility there. The spokesperson stressed that temporary measures cannot resolve the underlying issues of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. These can only be addressed through the full implementation of the International Court of Justice's ruling to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, he said. This statement came in response to Israeli media reports, which indicated that discussions are ongoing about setting up a temporary zone in northern Gaza and Jabalia camp, with foreign-backed private firms managing the aid distribution.
