President of 66th UNGA Session to QNA: HH the Amir’s Speech Empowers the People to Make Crucial Decisions

Doha: HE President of the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Nassir bin Abdulaziz Al Nasser said that one of the most distinguishing features of the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the 53rd annual session of the Shura Council, is His Highness commitment and insistence on empowering the people to participate in making crucial decisions by means of voting, a real-life reflection of the principles of Shura and democracy that Qatar has upheld throughout its history. His Excellency told Qatar News Agency that the speech of HH the Amir is historic and embodies transparency and frankness, in addition to demonstrating the future vision of HH the Amir for the State of Qatar, prioritizing the interests of the nation and its people. Al Nasser said that the plans for change that His Highness has set out are a result of careful consideration and reflection, which means that this step comes at a critically important time for the country. His Excellency added the nation's relationship with the leadership of HH the Amir is not limited to governance, rather it is a covenant based on mutual trust, continuous cooperation, and a sense of kinship, which create a sense of strength, unity, and resilience. The President of the 66th session of UNGA said that hardship and crises have proven that HH the Amir and his political courage have always been sources for pride and honor, enriching the nation and strengthening collective will. His Excellency said that it is clear today that His Highnesss decisions always stem from his concern for the advancement of the nation and the welfare of its citizens, amid the country's security and stability thanks to the wise leadership and its sound vision. Al Nasser affirmed unwavering support for every step taken by HH the Amir for the benefit of the country, given that justice and equality are fundamental to and are entrenched in the fabric of the Qatari state.
