Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas has received a message of solidarity from the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Luong Cuong, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. In his message, President Luong extended his greetings on behalf of the Vietnamese government and people, expressing their solidarity with the Palestinian people. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Luong conveyed deep concern over the current tense situation, particularly the violent attacks targeting civilians, humanitarian workers, and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. The Vietnamese leader called for an immediate ceasefire, an end to violence, adherence to international humanitarian law, and the protection of civilians. He emphasized the need to create the necessary conditions for urgent international humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people. Furthermore, President Luong reaffirmed Vietnam's support for the efforts of the United Nat ions Secretary-General and the crucial role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). He urged countries to provide maximum support to UN agencies, particularly UNRWA, in carrying out humanitarian activities to assist the Palestinian people during these difficult times. The Vietnamese leader reiterated his country's firm stance on supporting the Palestinian cause, based on respect for international law and UN resolutions, particularly the inalienable national rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also expressed support for the UN General Assembly's decision to grant Palestine further participation rights within the organization starting from this year's session.
