President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday welcomed the strong stance announced by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his annual address to the Shura Council, in which he reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's support for the Palestinian people's just right to freedom and independence. President Abbas expressed deep gratitude for the firm positions of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia which emphasized that there would be no diplomatic relations with Israel without the establishment of a Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. President Abbas, on behalf of the Palestinian people and its leadership, thanked and praised King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz and the Crown Prince for the kingdom's steadfast and continuous positions in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause at all levels, especially in international forums, stating that Saudi Arabia's leadership of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee has played a vital role in mobilizing international recognition for the Palestinian state and its full me mbership in the United Nations. The Presdient stressed that the unwavering Saudi positions reflect a continuation of the Kingdom's long-standing policy of supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom and independence in line with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative. He emphasized that the Crown Prince's bold and decisive statements affirm the strong unified Arab and Islamic stance in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and efforts made to halt the ongoing aggression against them, their land and holy sites, and to bring an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
