MADRID: President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Madrid on Wednesday evening for a two-day official visit. President Abbas was received by a host of Spanish officials, the diplomatic staff of the Palestinian embassy to Madrid and representatives of the Palestinian community in Spain. He is scheduled to meet his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sánchez, to discuss a range of issues, including the means to further develop bilateral relations in all fields as well as the efforts aimed at bringing an end to the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in killing 41,272 Palestinians and injuring 95,551 others, expediting the entry of humanitarian aid to the war-stricken Strip, halting Israeli army and colonists' attacks in the West Bank and obliging Israel to release withheld Palestinian tax revenues. They will also address the means to safeguard the two-state solution, which is being systematically undermined by Israeli policies, secure further recognition of the Palestinian state and support Palestine's bid for full membership in the United Nations.
