Presidency condemns State Department’s removal of Israeli group Kach from terror blacklist

RAMALLAH, Saturday, May 21, 2022 (WAFA) – The Palestinian presidency today strongly condemned the US State Department’s decision to remove the Israeli terror movement Kach from the list of foreign terror organizations under the US Immigration and Nationality Act.

The presidency stressed that while the US Congress insists on punishing the Palestinian people by maintaining the designation of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as a terrorist organization, the US administration is turning a blind eye and rewarding the enemies of peace and stability in the region.

“This decision is a reward for the operatives of this terrorist organization, including Itamar Ben-Gvir, who is always fueling tensions in occupied Jerusalem and in the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as Rabbi Benzi Govstein, who has called for the destruction of the Dome of the Rock,” said the presidency in a statement.

The presidency urged the US administration “to reverse its dangerous decision and to take a historic decision to remove the PLO from its list of terrorist organizations.”

“While President Biden has affirmed to President Mahmoud Abbas his commitment to the two-state solution, his rejection of settlements and the expulsion of residents and the demolition of homes, as well as his commitment to maintain the historic status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the US administration is never fulfilling its commitments to peace and stability,” the presidency pointed out.

“The State of Palestine is a state recognized by the United Nations General Assembly as an observer member since 2012, and is bound by international law and legitimacy and peace based on justice.”
