Palestine's Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa discussed via a phone call on Wednesday with the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan) at the United Kingdom's (UK) Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Hamish Falconer developments in the region as well as intensifying efforts to stop the Israeli occupation's aggression against the Palestinian people and provide more aid to the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Prime Minister called on the UK government to take serious and effective measures against Israel's colonial expansion and terrorism. He expressed appreciation for the UK's resumption of support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and its provision of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Falconer stressed on his part the need for a ceasefire in Gaza and expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the risk of escalation in the Middle East.
