Palestine logs 290 COVID cases, two deaths

Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 290 new cases of COVID-19, four deaths and 762 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said no deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the West Bank, while only one death was recorded in Gaza. East Jerusalem also recorded one death from COVID.

A total of 1,428 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period, with the exclusion of East Jerusalem. In the Gaza Strip, 136 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 64 new cases. East Jerusalem had 90 new cases.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 58 patients of COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, of whom 41 are in intensive care, including 21 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 98.3 percent, while active cases declined to 0.8 percent. Deaths stood at 0.9 percent of total infections.
