Palestinain President Urges International Support for Gaza Humanitarian Aid

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for robust support for humanitarian aid programs at the Gaza Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference, aimed at providing relief to the afflicted Palestinian people. In his address to the international conference, Abbas demanded an end to the genocide and crimes perpetrated against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He urged the Security Council and the international community to pressure Israel into opening all land crossings into the Gaza Strip and transferring control to the new Palestinian government. Abbas detailed the Palestinian government's relief programs, which focus on restoring basic services, institutional reform, and financial and economic stability. He announced the government's readiness to assume its responsibilities in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including the management of all Gaza crossings. The President emphasized the urgency of continuing efforts for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the withdr awal of Israeli forces from Gaza, to pave the way for the establishment of a fully functional Palestinian state. He expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and UN Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres for convening the conference to address the urgent humanitarian needs of Palestinians suffering under Israeli occupation in Gaza and the West Bank. Abbas also thanked the leaders, delegations, and organizations present for their response to the call for aid, highlighting the necessity of providing shelter, water, electricity, and medical services to displaced Palestinians. He underscored the importance of enabling displaced individuals to return to their homes and children to their schools. Abbas condemned the ongoing genocide, starvation, and deprivation in Gaza over the past eight months, as well as the crimes committed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem. He called for international pressure to ensure the opening of Gaza crossings and th e delivery of essential aid and services. During a meeting in Brussels on May 26-27, the Palestinian government presented its comprehensive programs for relief and stability and reaffirmed its readiness for coordination with relevant countries and international organizations. Abbas urged support for these humanitarian programs from the conference participants. He reiterated the responsibility of the Security Council and the international community to pressure Israel into facilitating the entry of aid into Gaza and ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Abbas stressed the importance of achieving a political solution based on international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, advocating for full UN membership and broader recognition of the State of Palestine. Abbas concluded by thanking the leaders, delegations, and host nations for their support and participation in the conference, and reaffirmed his call for a sustainable two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
